The association of the fortified line Promenthouse
Founded March 12, 1996
Aims of the Association
- Preserve the Promenthouse Site and in particular its defensive line
- Create a didactic tour highlighting the recent history of our country and the ecological value of the site
- Give the many active military associations a rallying point
Preservation of the Site
The fortified line of the Promenthouse presents, for many soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers of Geneva and Vaud, a symbolic value.
- By saving the site for future generations we would like to express our gratitude to all those people who have done their service on this line.
The Promenthouse Line is known for:
Its historical value by the Confederation and the canton of Vaud, as the first line conceived and realized to defend the axis Geneva-Lausanne.
Its architectural value, especially for the exceptional quality of camouflage and the typological interest of some of his works.
Creation of an educational trail:
Bring to the knowledge of our youth, the facts of our recent military history and, in particular, the measures that were taken during the period of the Second World War in the region of the Promenthouse
A walking route along the defensive line along existing or planned paths located mainly on the banks of the Serine and the Promenthouse.
Explanatory panels, brochures etc, developing the historical-military context and making it possible to identify the main elements of the fauna and flora along the path alongside the military obstacles.
Create a rallying point and meeting for associations, societies, friends and other military organizations or for historical purposes.
Provision of a meeting place.
